My Priorities

Fair and Accountable Governance

Trust matters. Members deserve a union that is transparent, fair, and aligned with their lived reality.

  • Align union staff compensation with the membership so gains and restraint are shared
  • Expand access to Labour Relations Officer support for members working evenings and nights, where applicable
  • Undertake a review of HSAA’s governance structure to ensure it reflects members’ needs
  • Improve transparency around Board discussions so members are better informed

Investing in the Future of Our Professions

A sustainable health care system depends on supporting people throughout their careers, from entry into the profession to long-term retention and recognition.

  • Review HSAA benefits to ensure they continue to reflect members’ current needs
  • Support students entering HSAA represented professions
  • Establish a dedicated fund to recognize and celebrate Professional Weeks across HSAA’s diverse professions

Stronger Local Voices

HSAA is strongest when direction is shaped by local leaders who understand their workplaces, their members, and their communities.

  • Strengthen the autonomy and role of Local Unit Chairs
  • Expand the involvement of Local Unit Chairs in key decisions, including bargaining priorities and major policy changes
  • Bring back a standalone Chairs Conference

Real Strike Power

In challenging moments, workers need meaningful leverage. Strike power is not about wanting job action. It is about being prepared so we can bargain from strength and protect members when it matters most.

  • Strengthen strike pay so members are supported with a livable wage, not minimum wage, while on the line
  • Grow the Strike and Defence Fund over time to strengthen bargaining power and strike readiness
  • Enable strike pay through the HSAA app

With clear priorities, strong local voices, and accountable leadership, we can build a union that members can trust and rely on as we move forward together.
