Animation Major at CSU-Fullerton

@omers_art_page

I recorded the voiceover for my animation! And I’ve finished each base for the car movements and refined the first scene where the hand grips the shifter. I think it’s coming along very well so far and it looks like it’s time to begin rough animation! I will need to add sound effects for the car engine, screeching tires, etc. soon, though.

This is an animation I made last May of the car I’ll be using for my current project. I’ll be using it as a base to animate over for the final drift scene of my Weightless animation.

I’ve broken down the key movements and messed with some of the acting as well as created new angles for a couple of scenes. I think it’s starting to come together pretty nicely so for now I’ll leave these scenes as they are and begin working on the car animation. I’ll likely revisit these semi-completed breakdowns as I receive critique of course since nothing is ever perfect.

Here is a character sheet I made for Cory over the summer, a lot of the information on it relates to a larger story but is not important for this project. I’m mainly referencing the front face, 3/4ths, and side profile of Cory’s face.

Here is a first take on the animatic including some very basic key movements. The most important focus here was in the timing, making sure each scene stays on screen for an appropriate amount of time and that there is enough time for the character to talk.

A portfolio that will look good for future employers, to me, involves multiple diverse characters, having them interact with one another, and an overall showing of versatile character design skills and storytelling.

I began to stress myself out too much over this, though, along with severe career anxiety… this was my answer to that. No background, just one character, and no story; just self expression, and it made me feel really good.

I’ll be developing this into an animated short (about 75 seconds long) throughout the course of the semester.
